We are seeking an accomplished and strategic procurement leader to head the Electronics & Plastics commodity category for a reputed automotive OEM/Tier-1 supplier. The ideal candidate will have over 20 years of relevant experience in sourcing and procurement of electronic components (PCBs, active & passive components) and plastic-moulded parts, with a strong background in supplier development, cost optimization, and global sourcing.
Lead procurement strategy for electronics components (PCBAs, semiconductors, capacitors, resistors, connectors) and plastic components (injection moulded parts, dashboard assemblies, connectors, clips, etc.).
Ensure alignment of sourcing strategy with product development, production, and corporate objectives.
Develop and implement global sourcing strategies for electronics and plastics commodities to ensure competitiveness in terms of cost, quality, and delivery.
Identify and qualify global and domestic suppliers for current and future business needs.
Drive vendor identification, development, onboarding, and evaluation processes.
Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure long-term strategic partnerships.
Collaborate with supplier quality teams to conduct regular supplier audits (ISO/IATF standards) and ensure compliance with regulatory and company quality standards.
Work closely with engineering and quality departments to resolve supplier issues and drive continuous improvement.
Lead cost benchmarking, cost reduction initiatives, and VA/VE activities.
Negotiate long-term contracts and pricing agreements with key suppliers.
Develop annual procurement budgets for assigned commodities.
Monitor purchase spend against budget and forecast, and implement corrective measures when needed.
Liaise with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure smooth integration of purchased parts into production.
Support new product development (NPD) and localization initiatives.
Monitor commodity price trends and proactively manage procurement risks.
Develop contingency plans to mitigate supply chain disruptions.
B.Tech in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, or related discipline.
Minimum of 20 years of experience in automotive procurement, with deep exposure to electronics and plastic commodities.
Experience in managing PCBAs, active and passive components, and plastic moulded parts in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Strong experience in global sourcing, supplier audits, contract management, and cost optimization.
Sound knowledge of supply chain principles, ERP systems (SAP preferred), and automotive quality standards (IATF 16949, ISO 9001, etc.).
Excellent negotiation, analytical, and leadership skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration across global teams.
Previous work with leading automotive OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers.
Experience in handling localization projects, EMS vendor management, or design-to-cost initiatives.
